School Climate and Shared Leadership

Summary  
School climate reform, an evidence-based strategy, supports K-12 students, school personnel, parents/guardians and community members learning and working together to promote pro-social education.  This National School Climate Center (NSCC) brief presents five strategies that lead to and sustain shared leadership in schools and address some of the challenges school leaders, teachers, students and community members may experience co-creating positive school climates.

PBIS School-Climate Survey Suite Manual

Summary
The School Climate Survey Suite is a set of five multidimensional surveys designed to measure student, teacher, administrator, faculty, and family perceptions of school climate.  

Additionally, underneath related resources, there is an 11-minute video from ThinkTVPBS which discusses the importance of creating and sustaining school and classroom climate.  Developed in partnership with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), this video is part of a series that provides practical applications for educators pursuing schoolwide SEL.

Creating a Safe and Respectful Environment in our Nation’s Classrooms: Toolkit

Summary
Creating a Safe and Respectful Environment in Our Nation’s Classrooms is designed to support classroom teachers, other educators, and support personnel to reduce instances of bullying behavior and to build a supportive classroom climate in which bullying is less likely to occur. 

This training toolkit is made up of two modules that address bullying in classrooms.  Specifically, it is designed for trainers [building leaders or teacher leaders] to assist teachers in cultivating meaningful relationships with students while creating a positive climate in the classroom.
